Saved myself hundreds of dollars! – Replacing the fuse myself was incredibly EASY and saved me hundreds of dollars by not having to call the appliance repair company. Perfect fit for my Amana (whirlpool) dryer.

I was told to buy a new dryer. – I was told to buy a new dryer. The maintenance man came to our house to check out our dryer. It randomly stopped turning on one day and the landlord offered to have it looked at. We have a very old Kenmore w/d set. Maybe 80s or 90s. “Heavy duty 70 series.” Maintenance guy took one look at it and laughed. Like yeah they’re old but they work. I’ve found older appliances were built to last. So I don’t care that they have wood grain. He asked if I knew what was wrong with it and I explained that I thought it was the thermal fuse. He laughed again and asked how I knew that. Answer: Google. He said “might be time for you to head to Lowe’s and buy a new set.” And promptly left. I watched a few more how to videos, ordered this for less than $10. And within 48 hours my dryer was working again. I did also vacuum out as much lint as possible and cleaned the duct. It was very easy to remove the back panel and pop out the old fuse and pop in this one. This saved me hundreds! And it felt nice letting them know that little ol me fixed it herself 😉

Whirlpool duet sport model wed8300sw0 – Bought monday, received 2 days later on wed(a day earlier than the expected delivery date). Installed same night. I have a whirlpool duet sport, model wed8300sw0, and is electric. Two weeks ago, the clothes i put in came out still wet. I stood there and turned the dryer on to see if it would actually heat. No heat. The dryer spun round but gave off no heat. I hung my clothes to air dry around the room. Then I reset the fuse box and unplugged the electrical chord. Plugged back in and still no heat. Did some research online and youtube. Narrowed the problem to the thermal fuse. I dont have a multimeter, but the thermal fuse was cheapest part to replace and start with, so i took a gamble. I thought if it didnt work, i might buy a multimeter next before buying more parts and having to take off the drum, which i was dreading. I did shop around for this part as the great youtuber Scotty Kilmer advises. The part on whirlpool is $35 plus $6 for shipping, and drquality was $8 for the thermal fuse and thermostat and free shipping but 5+ days for shipping. Amazon won out for price and shipping time.
