From google to Arlo – I’m satisfied in my purchase of the camera. I swore off anything to do with google and haven’t looked back since. It gives me everything I needed in a camera. Alerts that actually alert. No more notifications of transformers running around. (Google nest cam would say car are people every notification) my only gripe is with load time of the videos. The preview takes forever to load. When you factor in the camera needs to record 6-10 seconds to send you the snapshot, then it takes another 5-9 seconds to load; you’d missed someone walking on your front lawn and gone by the time everything loads. Not a big deal but it is significant. Other than that I’m satisfied and definitely made the right choice in switching.

Essential but not Basic !!! – These are great security camera’s. They are compatible to the arlo pro version. Very close but with the added spotlight…might even be a touch better. I added them quite easily to my existing base. The software is a bit different on where they put some of the settings but they are there. I’m very pleased & may actually purchase more. If you have a low internet set up like me , these are the cameras for you . Great quality video 1080p, won’t bog your internet down like the 4K cameras. I even set mine to record best quality. The only thing is extra lighting is helpful for better video quality at night. We have a mix of original arlo, arlo pro & essential spotlight cameras. The quality with RECHARGEABLE batteries is awesome.

Decent, needs frequent charging – I added this camera as a third with two pro 2 cameras and base. Works fine with the base. Picture is great, motion detection great. Overall it does what it should in terms of activating and recording motion outside my door/in the driveway. My problem with it is it needs charging far more frequently than the prior cameras even with the settings kicked back to most extend battery life. I should note- I don’t use the spot light feature- it’s set to be manually turned on. My older cameras last ~3-4 weeks between charges while this makes it about ~1.5. It’s not located in an area where it gets direct weather- it’s under an overhang. The other thing is, the mount seems to have gotten cheaper or maybe I just got a doozy. Although it looks the same as the older one, it feels more flimsy and is more difficult to place the angle precisely- loose, wobbly. Given the option to buy again I’d either look for older model cameras that I have, or change the system all together.

Can’t Believe It’s All Working – I’m really quite amazed. I purchased the Orbi 4g LTE modem-router for non-cable WiFi connection and matched the Orbi to 4 Arlo Essential security cameras. Should work, right? Never did anything like this before. Like so many of these electronic combinations that I’ve theorized about in the past, I assumed this wouldn’t work either. I talked to several advisors – Orbi technicians, Arlo community contributors. Everyone said it should work. And it did!!!! Amazing!!
