It filters. – The water at my place used to taste great 5-7 years ago. Since then it has gotten and continues to worsen in both taste and smell. I bought a Brita pitcher and once the original filters were used up, I bought these. They do a great job taking out the stink and awful taste.

OK so far – I have this filter for three weeks only and my evaluation is partially based on manufacturer’s promises. If this filter will be running for as long as it description says (in my case, considering intensity of usage, it should be running for a year), I will know the filter is good. So, if everything is OK, I’ll know about it in about a year. And if it is not, I’ll know sooner.

Perfect for areas with weird tasting tap water – I’m really picky about how water tastes, I went a year avoiding our hard gross tap water by buying 2.5 gallon jugs of spring water every couple weeks. The water softener just doesn’t do enough, and there’s always visible white clouds that have to settle when getting a glass of water from the tap.
