Looks great at first glance – The laser and star maker are very bright. I purchased this to help with astrophotography. Haven’t tried outside yet. Should work great

Standard <5mw green laser pointer - Claims to be high power but per the Federal required laser label this is a typical <5mw laser pointer and appears to be the same brightness as the original green laser pointer I bought close to 20 years ago for astronomy use. Much less expensive now though. I have some black balloons on the way and if this can burst them then I will so note via an update. The biggest advantage this has is the USB recharging via a built-in USB A Male connector. The old laser pointer is smaller diameter and takes two AAA batteries.

So much more than I expected! – I was just expecting a run-of-the-mill pointer that our Siamese could chase. She’s had two others, both of which eventually disappeared, likely due to our 4 year old granddaughter’s curiosity. When this arrived I was pleasantly surprised. First, it is more the size of a pocket flashlight than a typical laser pointer. Second, it is rechargeable with a USB port, so I won’t have to continue to buy new batteries to power it. Third, it has a feature of being able to project a mini-light show. Fourth, it comes in a stylish box, which makes it a great gift. Five, and most important, the CAT LOVES IT!

What a steal of a deal – This light (green) is impressive! This has to be one of the brightest, longest distance and adjustable lasers I’ve every played with. A friend had this on a camping trip which entertained kids and adults alive for hours twisting the lens filter effects to the music. Most of the “adult” males turned around and bought one by the next day. I still have not charged mine since taking it out of the box. Great deal!

Awesome but please don’t use this without eye protection (50+ mW) – Despite what the “<5 mW" label on the front of the laser says, this is a laser with an output power between 50-70 mW (the output power is not extremely stable): over 10 times the eye safe limit. That means direct hits from this laser to your eye can cause permanent damage faster than you can blink. Looking at the spot on the wall for any amount of time probably isn't good either. This power does make the laser incredibly useful for optics projects and experiments - I am using it to build a homemade Raman spectrometer. I'm pretty psyched that lasers this powerful are available so cheaply, but buyers should be aware that this is not the type of laser for everyday pointing use.

Green laser very powerful with long range. Not the best pointer for presentation use. – Laser pointer was very powerful and seems better for outdoor signaling use than as an indoor presentation pointer. There are no options for presentation pointer styles other than a strong green dot. I found the “toy” display patterns for cats and other pets to be not helpful (I do not have a pet). You need to remove the pet filter head to get the steady green dot option. The aluminum body is very durable. There is a plastic button guard (nice safety feature) and a hand strap but no pocket or belt clip. You could likely carry this item in a flashlight belt holster.

Perfect for a Docent – I volunteer at the Museum of Flight in Seattle and need to shine a laser on planes hanging above me during tours. It was difficult to find one with a strong enough beam to be seen from a distance. This is almost too strong and I have to be careful not to shine the beam through the glass ceiling towards actual airplanes taking off or landing at the airfield. Would be too strong for things like a power point presentation but perfect for what I need it for.

Bright Laser – I use this green laser, without the endcap, to point out objects in the night sky. With the endcap you get multiple beams which is not helpful. Unscrewing the endcap gives a nice strong beam that can easily be seen. Please be careful where you point this. It can damage an eye if you are not careful. And NEVER point at an aircraft. Several years ago, I had a laser pointed at the cockpit of the airliner I was piloting, reported it to the FAA and they were able to catch the guy. It’s a federal offense.
