      Great small planer! – This planer will impress you right off the bat with it’s weight and solid construction. I ran a few test pieces through it and even at the faster feed rate the wood was glass smooth. The controls are very precise and easy to use. Does it have a tendency for snipe? Sure, but all “portable” planers have that. If you are careful it can be reduced to hardly detectable. As predicted, it will tear out highly figured woods but that is typical of straight blade planers. In short, this seems to me a great planer with the added benefit of being able to be upgraded to a helical cutter head easily. Good deal when the package is on sale!

      Bad Ass – First time using the machine, first time using a plainer. Easy set up. I have rough cut oak from large pallets. This stuff is rough. Took about 10 passes adjusting 1/32nd at a time. Once I got it to feed it was fantastic. I had the adjustment to tight and it wouldn’t feed. Black Friday special. It will pay for itself fast.

      Smooth as a … well, really smooth for wood. It will convert your $$ wood to shavings. – This thing is great, it really does a great job, is fast and easy for a thickness planar. Keep in mind, it is not a jointer, but can be used to square up 2 sides, then thickness planar for all your home made objects and projects. Be careful. Peace.

      Heavy duty and fine finish – Replaced a ~35 year old Ryobi AP-10 with this, and wish I’d done it years ago. I’ve used it both for heavy hogging of green wood (5″ thick by 10″ wide) and fine cuts on thin stock, and it has worked beautifully in all cases. The DW735 has tons of useful features that my older planer lacked, the most important being the fantastic dust collection. I have it hooked up to a 4″ dust collection system, and the fan-driven output of the planer clears everything even for wide heavy cuts. Also nice is the front-end cut-depth gauge, which lets you know ahead of time how much material will come off so you won’t overload the planer – mostly useful on the first pass. Combined with the Delta planer stand (https://www.amazon.com/DELTA-22-592-UNIVERSAL-Mobile-Planer/dp/B0045LT35I/), which raises the working height to a comfortable level and is surprisingly stable given its heavy construction, and a Wixey digital thickness gauge to get precise thicknesses (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001PTGBSK/), this is just about the perfect planer. Much quieter than my old Ryobi, too, though still quite loud.

      Easy to set up and use! – Out of the box you need only to install the adjuster wheel and plug it in! If you are going to do any woods over 3-4 feet I’d recommend purchasing the table extensions. The only downside to the machine right out of the box would be the blades. Get a set of high carbon steel and swap them out. Great little portable planer all in all!!!
