Great tool – Very convenient tool. Found the exact joint in a black pipe natural gas supply line where I had a small leak. The leak was too small to find with soap solution, even though I could smell the mercaptan but this tool helped me find it easily. Held it at each joint in succession and it alarmed at the leaking one. Didn’t have to rebuild all of the joints, just tighten the one joint.

Just make sure you wait 30 seconds when you start it up. the unit display bar will quit moving and a audible alarm will peep. The display light is green and bright, when it detects leak it peeps and turns red the bar moves up. Read instructions and you will be happy.

it works – I have an original 1950s Chambers oven and you have to manually light the pilot light. Because the dang oven is so intimidating, I wanted to make sure there were no gas leaks so I bought this product. It works. I checked it when I knew just the gas was on without a flame and it immediately indicated a dangerous level of gas. So, it definitely works. I like that I can just check specific areas.

Works great! – I bought this because my energy bill kept going up and I wanted to check things out and spending $20 to do that seemed reasonable. It immediately detected a leak at our gas meter. Our meter had just been updated a year prior so we did not think it would be an issue, but apparently the meter was a lemon. This little detector does the trick well enough to know when to call a professional. There is really no need to buy a more expensive one (unless you are a professional).

Found a leak – So I had to disconnect my gas line to my fireplace to install a blower unit in the back of it. When I reinstalled the gas line I tightened everything down or so I thought. Every once in awhile you could smell gas. So I bought this in the hope of narrowing down where the leak was. It did not disappoint. Found it and was able to resolve quickly. For the price, it is worth having this tool in your toolbox.
