Fit Perfectly – I was surprised the thermostat didn’t come with this trim piece, but this is what you’re looking for if the hole where your previous thermostat went isn’t completely covered. This trim piece works and is easy to install.

Doesn’t fit my nest – I have a 3rd gen nest and it’s a little too big for the provided screw holes. I’m still using the cover but the best is only held on my one screw and a command strip.

Electrical box adapter is for a 1gang only, not a 4 square jbox. – Bought it because it says it has the adapter plate for an electrical box. It will fit a 1 gang J box but it will not fit a 4 square jbox. The plates that were used for the original Nest thermostats had a plate that did fit 4square boxes but this nest version thermostat uses a plate adapter for 1 gang jboxes only.

Does the trick, but not the prettiest, and why is it $15 – Why is this piece of plastic $15 instead of $5? That said, it helped me install a Nest thermostat without patching the wall from the old thermostat. It’s not the prettiest look, so I will probably remove it when I come around to patching the wall.

Does what it’s designed to do! – White is very white, but it did a good job of covering holds from a previous thermostat.

Just as advertised – This worked well to cover the wall holes from the previous thermostat unit. We already had our Nest installed, so it was a bit of a hassle to take all that off again to add the plate. I recommend buying the plate and the Nest together so you can install at same time.

Looks nice, be advised that the edges curve up slightly – Looks nice when replacing your thermostat with a new Nest. Be advised though, it’s not perfectly square, the corners are rounded and raised, so if the wall wasn’t painted well under the previous thermostat you might still see that. I had to add some touchup paint around the corners because you could see the old color when looking from the side.
