A simple way to add intellegence – I have installed many of these throughout my house for lights and fans. The installation is no more complicated than a standard light switch, and setting up the switch in the app is easy. The switch also shows up in Google Home, and if this is labeled as a light it will be turned on/off with the room lights just like the Hue lights.

I got electrocuted and it was totally worth it – I bought these during the thanksgiving sale and I love them. I have zero electrical experience and I installed 7 of these throughout the house in minutes. I bought 4 first, loved them and bought 3 more. Get the 3 pack – it is the most cost effective. These are useless without a neutral wire so don’t buy them without checking your outlets first. Don’t be stupid and get electrocuted like I did. Make sure you turn the power to the corresponding rooms off and double check the lines with a tester before you dig in. I installed 5 individually and 2 ganged together. 2 or 3 ganged plates are not provided. I got them at a Lowe’s near me. Eaton and Lutron have plates that fit well. I chose Lutron plates (Claro-Gloss-Finish – 10 bucks) because it fit them better although it is a couple of $$ more than Eaton, and their finishing was also on par with the Kasa plates. I have covered almost every outlet in my house with a neutral. In the end, I added them through Home assistant with some automations coupled with a motion sensor. Highly recommend these!

Easy to install and setup – These were easy to install and set-up, if you’re familiar with changing out electrical fixtures.

Easy to install and good Alexa integration – This is a great deal for three basic ON/OFF (no dimming) Alexa compatible smart switches, basically about $10 each. Installation was a snap, but take note this switch does require a neutral wire in the box (yes, just connecting the white wire to ground wire will work but is not legal from an electrical code standpoint – so don’t do that). The switch mounted easily enough and was easy to program. As with so many of these smart devices it does require that you download KASA from your app store, yes one more app for your phone or other device in order to configure it, but it’s painless. Once done configuring it asks if you’d like to add it to Alexa, again super easy to do. Range wise I used this switch in my shed which is about 70 feet from the house, my phone has decent WiFi there and the shed has wooden walls and the switch box is plastic so I figured the switch should work too and it does. So far so good and now I can control the shed mounted floodlights in that part of the yard.

Game Changer Smart Switches!! – I researched many different kinds of smart switches, and these were by far the best – both for price and functionality! If you’ve ever changed a switch before, these are incredibly easy to install. They do crowd the electrical box with cords, but that really wasn’t a problem. You can even fit two side by side in a double box (though I had to purchase a double cover separately). They seamlessly integrate with Alexa as well. I absolutely love these! They are perfect & I couldn’t recommend them more!

Installation was a breeze!! – The only thing that I did not like about these was the instructions only pertained to the connecting it to the app and absolutely no installation guide. After about 20 minutes on YouTube I finally figured out that it doesn’t matter which power line you hook as the live or load. That would have been handy information to include in the package.

Awesome and neutral wire NOT required – I’ve done several now some connecting the neutral and some not having the neutral wire. In controlling heat in 4 locations, I opened one hot wire on the line side of a 240 volt baseboard heater thermostat. 2 ft 375w, 2.5 ft 500w and 4 ft 1000 watt. These are 15a rated switches so should be able to handle 15a x 120v or 1800w. I probably would not put them on a 6 ft 1500w heater but you probably should be able to. Installed an old work box next to the baseboard thermostat fishing the wires thru and wired both the neutral and ground kasa wires to the house ground wire. I was hopeful but still a bit surprised it works perfectly. Its a clunky app e.g., you can’t rename a device so you have to delete it and reinstall or reset it and reinstall.
