Klein Tools MM400 Multimeter – The Klein MM400 multimeter is an outstanding, rugged, professional looking meter. I use it around my resident when checking circuitry and when running electronics in my trucks and automobiles. The range is perfect for both applications and the meter’s compact size allows easy operations in tight locations.

Two Complaints but overall great multimeter for the price – I have always used Fluke meters at work but needed a meter for a project I was doing for my truck. The only two things about this meter that prevented it from getting 5 stars from me is the backlight will not stay on long enough and the probe ends are too short. When you turn the backlight on it will turn back off after a few minutes. When working in a low light environment you should not have to keep going back and turning the backlight back on. My second complaint are the probe ends. They are too short. This becomes extremely frustrating when trying to attach jumper wires that have alligator clips on the end. The clips will not stay clipped on the probe ends. I will ultimately buy some new probes that are compatible and have longer ends or I will carefully shave off some the plastic at the ends of these probes to expose more metal to fasten jumpers to.

I am unable to keep my extra set of leads in it comfortably and there are no pockets to hold the lead attachments (alligator clips and things). Otherwise the meter works excellently. Good leads, tight sockets, easy to read screen and rotary adjuster knob. Haven’t used it enough to address durability but I managed to drop it already and it survived without damage. Checked accuracy against my 25 year old Johnstone Supply meter and they agreed.
