So far it works as promised – I bought this item twice. The first time they sent the oblong one which I also kept but haven’t installed yet. I could have sent it back. It has all of the instructions to do that right there. The old seat on that toilet still works well but isn’t slow closing. So I think eventually I will replace it. For the price, I rather keep it than return it.

When it says slow closing, it means slow closing – I actually forgot that this was a slow closing seat. When I installed it, I thought there was something wrong with the seat until I remembered it was slow closing.

Great seat. A few issues prevent it from being perfect. – This is a great seat. The slow fall keeps things quiet, the wood is good and sturdy and the plastic is easy to clean. The connection system helps with cleaning the tricky places and the locking nuts keep it all in place. There are a few issues I’ve run into however.

Good buy – It’s a toilet seat, so what’s the big deal? Well the attachment system to the toilet. That’s the big deal. The nylon bolt has an extra “break away” piece that allows you to torque the toilet seat hinge to the toilet very tight without stripping the thread of the nylon bolt. This is why the toilet seat does NOT move or get loose. Looking closely at the nylon bolt, you will see “Patent Pending”. If you are looking for a soft close toilet seat, this is the one for you.

Perfect Fit – I historically have bought toilet covers from Lowe’s up the street. I personally don’t love the look of plastic on my current toilet so I have been buying wood. However the seat I bought from Lowe’s was really discolored after about 4 years and I also realized there were cheaper options so I looked elsewhere and found this one. I actually was going to try to find some kind of ceramic seat but that was too much of a hassle.

My old toilet seat sucked! – How often do you change out your toilet seat? Not often enough! My toilet seat broke after 15yrs of use. I purchased this seat from Amazon not expecting any difference. Boy was I wrong. First it took me a couple hours to remove the rusty/corroded brass bolts that my old seat was attached with. There was no way to secure the head of the bolt with pliers or channel locks and remove the frozen nut attached. Ended up using a hacksaw blade. Anyway this new seat was great. The installation hardware that came with the seat was made of Teflon. The mounting bracket was recessed and fitted to prevent the bolt from spinning during installation or removal in the future. Also the Teflon bolt will not rust like the old brass bolts. Installation was a breeze and when I used it for the first time I couldn’t believe how much more comfortable and roomy it was compared to my old seat. Im looking forward to my next trip to the bathroom.

Excellent – Surprisingly Overly Pleased About A Toilet Bowl Seat – After reading the reviews, which were mixed, I was definitely surprisingly overly excited about my new toilet bowl seat (elongated, slow close). Within the reviews, which I’m happy I read, there are cleaning instructions to ensure there’s no discoloring, and it’s super easy and not a problem at all, including for sanitizing purposes. Back to the seat. It was incredibly easy to put together and on, I didn’t even read the instructions past step 1, so I could see how the lock slides into place. It not only fits perfectly, no longer rocking back and forth side to side like my older white coated wood toilet bowl seat began doing no matter how much or how often I tightened it, but it’s also a bit thicker, so I sit a bit higher, and I never realized that sitting just a little higher would actually not only feel more comfortable, but more appropriate with regard to say sitting in a chair. It’s much more comfortable. As far as the slow closing lid goes, it works 100% perfectly, though due to me having cats that try to get into the bowl, I’ve been pushing it down to close it faster (put not with hard force, don’t want to break it). I highly recommend this and will be buying another for my 2nd bathroom.
