Not perfect but does pretty good – There is some wobble in the bit but does good if you put the same pressure on it every time. Glad I have it but it’s not a precision tool. Great little guide.

Good value for occasional use – It’s WAY better than trying to drill by hand if you need a perpendicular hole. I use it mostly for my hole saws. The bearings seem a little sticky and not very precise so they can bind which is why I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars. I’m going to try greasing the linear guide bearings to see if it helps. However for the price it’s great for occasional use.

Good, but not great – The product works as intended. It feels a little cheaply made, but overall, works as intended. There are a couple of other still presses like this, but are quite a lot more expensive. For the price, it’s a good value; especially for an item that gets limited usage in my shop.

for the price it is worth owning – ok, if you have to drill holes that need to be straight, this is a handy tool to have. i purchased it for a job that i will be doing soon that will require drilling from the outside wall of a home through to the inside. it needs to be as straight as possible. i have not used it in the field yet but tested it in the shop. it appears sturdy and was easy to assemble. shipping as usual was very fast.

Works pretty well – I had a job for a customer who had a wall display which required 1-1/2” holes floor to ceiling 12’ wide every 8”. And they had to be perfectly aligned. I could not hade done as nice a job freehand so I used this. I actually had a similar jig from a different company which I wound up throwing away as it was cheaply made and highly inaccurate. Millscraft is well made and very sturdy.

One of my essentials – I own a benchtop drill press, and it does all the things you’d expect a drill press its size to do. But there are plenty of times you need to drill an accurately angled and positioned hole and a drill press (of any size) just can’t do it. When the hole is attached to your house, for instance, or off site, or on something that just won’t fit into the drill press. That’s why I keep this Milescraft gadget handy. It’s simple to use, as accurate as you care to make it, and unlike some clever gadgets it’s much more than a single-use tool. I’ve had it for about four years now, and it continues to perform like a champ: the chuck is easy to operate and holds the bit securely; fitting it onto a range of handheld drills is just like chucking any other bit, and the spring-loaded press action is smooth and free of slop. The base is easy to clamp to the surface, if you want, but it also has rubber feet and solid bearing surfaces so simple hand pressure is usually more than sufficient to keep the bit aligned. Of course, you do have to take the usual amount of care to make sure the bit is going to drill where you want it to, but no drill press I’ve ever used (with or without your hoity-toity laser guides) is going to free you of that part of the job. The only downside I can think of is that it’s bulky for what is essentially a hand tool, but I can’t imagine how you could remedy that without compromising function. This is one of those tools that, even though it’s an occasional-use rather than everyday tool, if it ever breaks or gets permanently borrowed, I’ll replace it in a heartbeat–you really want to have it on hand for those times when you need it.

Better than exspected – Reading reviews some said it was not perfectly square, and chuck wobbled slightly.

Good product, a few issues – Overall it seems well made and the chuck is trued up. It served my purpose of drilling straight holes in a big table top that couldn’t fit in my drill press. Two issues I noticed: (1) don’t rely on the depth stop: you’re putting downward force and it’s difficult to tell when you hit the stop or whether you’re just getting resistance from the material, so it’s easy to put enough force to push the depth stop down, rendering it useless; and (2) the spring is annoying: it’s generally fine if using a long bit with shallow drill depth, but if you want to drill deep or are using a short bit, the spring reduces how far you can push down, even when it’s fully compressed. I had to remove it because it wouldn’t even reach the material when using a small bit, and just had to deal with the annoyance of the chuck falling down.
