They use the timer function as an alarm clock of sorts to let her know when she can get out of bed. I also gifted it to a friends kid for her 2nd birthday and she loved it. Great gift for kids 2-7 or up!

This little piece has color and white (which can be sed in unison) a timer that can be turned on for delayed turn off, and it has a removable globe top for allowing the light to be a glow under the frosted semiglobe or projected stars and crescent moon on ceiling and walls. Tge color lights have a multitude of variant options, just keep tapping, one solid color then shades of two then three then fading between them and finally fading in all. The white light is a solitary on or off. The rotation is also on or off. And the timer starts at 5 min and goes up (5 min incrementally) to 99 min.
