Decent hammer – I wanted a small hammer to keep in my tool bag because I rarely used hammers and got tired of the massive ones that I used about every 6 months. So far so good as it hammers and does hammer things well. The only reason I gave it four stars (and I admit this partially my fault) is that I was using it outside, got distracted and ended it up leaving it outside a few days and it became fairly rusty. Granted, I know it was my fault, but I also feel like it could’ve/should’ve held up a bit better than it did.

Great for more precise work. – My main application: I drill a lot of small holes and want to start by making a good center for the holes. I will carefully align the center punch, but then with a larger hammer, it is difficult to hit the punch just right, for a variety of reasons. This hammer solves these problems: 1) The shorter distance from the hand to the hammer head makes it easier to control (less torque, and small angle deviations have a shorter lever arm); 2) the ergonomic grip is great for grabbing the hammer when your not looking at it because it automatically aligns well to the hand. This really happened: after using it for the first time, I texted a friend and said, “best $8 I’ve ever spent”. And it could possibly be true, and in the passed I’ve made many perfect parts imperfect by not hitting the center punch just right. But I wouldn’t use it to frame a house.
