Does the job, but the lid holds water – This is a nice connection box. It certainly seems adequate for the job of keeping connections dry. The only problem is that the lid has a rim all the way around it, with no outlet for water that collects on top. After a rainfall or snow, this would leave around a pint of water sitting on the lid, which is undesirable around electrical connections. I’d suggest a redesign of the lid to allow water to escape.

Great result – I have several of these and use them throughout the year. They are great to hold either adapters, or Wi-Fi switches, which you want to use outside given their size. I have a Wemo switch and one, which has been in continuous use for three years without any water, penetration, or other issues.

IS YOUR OUTDOOR RECEPTACLE A PAIN IN THE BUTT? THIS IS THE ANSWER – No dislikes. My outdoor receptacle, esp. the one on my deck requires me to be a contortionist to use it. Not anymore. I bought a 3 ft extension that is flat and rotates so I can have the extension protruding to hook up a long extension. But… if I leave it there what about rain or snow. That’s where the Sockit Box comes in. I put the end of the short extension in there and they way it is designed it is weatherproof. When I need to hook up a long extension I simply open the box, connect the short extension to the long extension (having the long extension exit the box at one of the four exit points and close up the box for a weather proof connection. Brilliant!!

We use the typical outdoor multi-outlet star shaped hubs to plug in 5 items at a time. It’s great, but the hub doesn’t protect the connections and October is wet in New England.

Peace of mind for outdoor power connections – I use a lot of lighted yard decorations for the holidays–mostly Halloween and Christmas, when my area gets a good amount of rain and/or snow. I use more simple cord protectors for single plug-to-plug connections, but needed something larger to accommodate a power strip. The medium box fit a 3-plug power strip (about 8in long), with plenty of room to accommodate the plug heads & some of the extension cord length as well. Closing it while keeping all your cords in the proper spots could be a little difficult, but not too bad–my goal was to set everything up once then never open it again until it was time to take down my decorations, so I was willing to spend the time to get everything lined up perfectly. I also had some single plug-to-plug connections for lights that have very boxy plugs/connectors that were too big for the simple cord protectors–I used the small-sized box for those, and they fit with plenty of room. They were out for about 6 weeks and saw some pretty heavy rainfall–water collected on the top of the boxes but no moisture was inside when I opened them up to take down my decorations. I definitely recommend investing in these–not only does it perform well, but it brought me good peace of mind knowing that all my decorations were protected from the elements.
