Includes testing cost – For the price, this is a great test kit. You get the testing costs included with the actual radon test. Results were provided very quickly after our test was received. I would highly recommend checking your radon levels in your home every 2-3 years and using this inexpensive test is a great way to do this.

This test kit comes in a small box, it contains a sealed tray of a charcoal-like substance that you sit in the spot where you want to run the test for 48-72 hours. After that time, you put the kit back into the included envelope along with a completed information card, seal it up, and mail it away for testing to a lab. Simple enough.

Good test with a AMAZING customer service behind it – For a $15 home test I wasn’t expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised by the effort put in by the testing company that FirstStep is using to test the kits (AlphaEnergy Laboratories). They allow you to register the test using a website form your phone, scan the barcode on the test using your phones camera so you don’t have to type it in (you can type it in if you want), and you can even sign up for text alerts when they receive the kit and when the testing is done. Then the results are emailed to you as a PDF that is easy to read and explains everything. You can even pay for the postage directly from them and they will email you a shipping label or just go to the post office and ship it normally (what I did).
