should have bought one ten years earlier – Only splitting axe I will ever use. Have put about 5 years heavy use on one of these. Bought a second but it will probably sit in the closet for many years as I don’t see the first one slowing down.

Pleasant Surprise. – I’m old (over 80). It’s been over 40 years since I harvested my own firewood. I have some downed oak and hickory that I decided to process myself. Cutting and bucking into rounds wasn’t too bad but I wasn’t sure i could split them (14″ to 24″ diameter). I decided a maul would be too heavy for me. Did some homework. Liked the reviews on this Fiskars X25 Splitting Axe so I bought one.

Fiskar 36″ splitting axe – This is an wonderful tool. I have been splitting wood for 50 years and just found these in 2022. 50 years too late. They are a very sharp well balanced low vibration splitter. As an older man splitting wood this only takes about 1/2 the effort of the same weight axe and does pound my body like a heavy maul. I have given this same tool to some beginning wood splitters and they amazed at the ease of splitting with it. Another nice thig is the splitting edge stays extremely sharp compared to splitting with a standard axe. Great value.

I prefer a wood handle, but this works wonderfully – Easy to use, easy to aim, easy to split. The curve at the end of the handle makes it easy to maintain grip on a full swing, so you have better accuracy. The head is well designed, and has a good balance between weight and cutting angle. The “sheath” is great to just attach it to a wall and hang your axe when you’re done.

The best splitting hatchet that money can buy – What do I like ? It’s hard to describe. I own several splitting hatchets .

Nifty axe, light enough to bring camping, very robust. – I use this thing for splitting logs at home as well and shoving in my bag for some light wood processing when I’m out camping. The coating on the outside came off pretty quick, but that may be due to the fact I’m not a seasoned lumberjack. The edge rolled a bit when I was splitting as well, but that just gave me the change to work on my hand-sharpening skills, and I would expect if you are a more skillful axe-wielder than me, you should have no problem with this. When using the file to sharpen, I did scrape off a bit of the coating where I didn’t intend, due to the larger angle as you move away from the blade, so keep this in mind if you want to use a hand-file. Other than that, it is light enough to shove in a medium-large camping bag with the handle sticking out a bit, and it works a lot better than any generico axe you could pick up for the same price at a Menards.

Amazing – I don’t usually do reviews but I just used this axe for the first time and wow, this axe us so light and every swing was a one strike split. I have been chopping wood for years and always exhausted after, this was so easy I barely even swung the axe and boom right through, also used the friskers 10 pound sludge with the larger striking surface with my splitting wedge and that was ridiculously easier as well, how long the axe will spilt like this I can’t say but as of right, I’m very impressed.
